Help You Can Trust When Work Takes a Toll

Heal Before Work provides licensed counseling and documentation support for California workers taking time off due to mental health conditions. Our services are designed for people who are stressed, burned out, overwhelmed, or dealing with symptoms that make it hard to function at work.

We don’t just offer counseling, We guide you through the process of starting or maintaining a mental health leave — including SDI paperwork, disability evaluations, and biweekly sessions that meet documentation requirements.

Whether you’re just beginning to explore the idea of a leave or you’re already on one and need continued support, we meet you where you are.

SDI Counseling

Individual Therapy

Sometimes you need more than coping strategies. You need space to step back, talk honestly, and find a way forward.

We offer therapy for:

  • Work stress and burnout
  • Anxiety and panic
  • Depression or grief
  • Life transitions and trauma

Sessions are one-on-one, confidential, and focused on what’s most urgent for you. Our work is guided by cultural awareness, trauma-informed principles, and a strong understanding of how mental health challenges affect job performance.

Therapy is available via telehealth for clients anywhere in California. In-person intake appointments are also available in Walnut Creek.

Work Readiness & SDI Counseling

If you’re considering medical leave for mental health reasons or already on leave through State Disability Insurance (SDI), this service is for you.

We help California clients:

  • Prepare for SDI evaluations
  • Submit forms for FMLA/CFRA & disability
  • Maintain eligibility with biweekly counseling sessions
  • Get documentation for employers or HR departments
  • Plan for a healthy and structured return to work

These services are especially helpful if you’re unsure how to start the process or feel overwhelmed by the paperwork. We explain each step, help you avoid common delays, and ensure your documentation meets the required standards.

SDI Counseling

Psychological Assessments

If your HR rep, attorney, or doctor referred you for an evaluation, we can help.

We offer licensed psychological assessments for:

  • Mental health disability claims
  • SDI documentation
  • Leave extensions or recertification
  • Work readiness evaluations
  • Career impact assessments (when mental health is affecting performance)

Each assessment is tailored to your situation and completed by a licensed psychologist. We provide supporting letters, reports, or forms needed for your job, insurer, or legal team.

This service is ideal for professionals in high-demand roles (healthcare, education, law, transportation, tech) who need clean, clinically sound documentation that reflects their experience.

Telehealth Services Across California

You shouldn’t have to travel to get the help you need. We offer HIPAA-compliant telehealth services for clients throughout California. This includes counseling sessions, SDI evaluations, and consulting for paperwork or leave questions.

Whether you’re in the Bay Area or in another part of the state, you’ll get access to the same level of care, communication, and documentation support. All you need is a phone, tablet, or laptop.

Telehealth is often the best option for clients who are too stressed or fatigued to commute or who need care that fits into their schedule.

Your Investment

We believe care should be accessible, transparent, and free of surprises. Here’s what to expect:

  • Intake & Assessment (first session): $250

All sessions are provided via secure, HIPAA-compliant telehealth and available to clients throughout California.
